Firm Foundation Files
It's more than a storybook; It's a firm foundation. When it comes to our children's bible classes, we often refer to what we are teaching them as "stories". While this is true, we want to make sure that the kids are taking in all the stories and understand how they fit within the big picture. The whole plan of God, from the creation of the universe to the hope given in revelation as the church He established presses on to the ultimate goal.
I firmly believe that our kids need to learn these bible stories on a foundational level. They need to learn the people, the facts, the places. God has given us this amazing story of His relationship with mankind and He has done so for a reason. It's been preserved for us. All of us, young and old. While it's never too late and you are never too old to open up the bible and have a relationship with God, it is also never too early. We sing to our little ones, we read them books, we help them practice folding their little hands to pray. Isn't it amazing how God made these little minds to learn and grow?
This curriculum is built in levels, so that as kids go through each level, they build upon their foundation of bible knowledge. So what is it that we want this curriculum to accomplish? By the time they go through this materials levels, and enter into middle school, we want them to be able to recount the stories within the Bible, showing the relationship between the men and women we read about and God. Beyond that, we want them to have the ability to explain how these events relate to the overall plan of God for saving mankind.
The curriculum is broken down into 8 sections, which will cover roughly a two year period. If a student goes through levels 1, 2 and 3 of this curriculum, they will have gone through the entire bible 3 times. What a firm foundation of the bible they will have as they move on to different types of studies and classes as they grow older in their walk with the lord.
